Slow Living – A New Outlook

Life has become unbearably fast and stressful. Maybe it’s time for luxury to translate into slow living.

By: Soumya Jain

One could argue that we have unprecedented amount of technology to help in our lives. But at the same time, life has become fast, stressful and sometimes unmanageable. It’s always a good time to take some steps back and wonder what we are doing. Are we leading a healthy life? Are we leading our children by a good example? Or even, are we leaving a salubrious planet for our children?

Life’s philosophies need to be rethought. It’s time luxury gets a new definition. Hence, the need for ‘slow living’.

Slow living is basically the opposite of fast living. It is living in a more balanced, meaningful, and life-affirming way where you start enjoying life being conscious of sensory profusion. Slow living emphasizes slower approaches to aspects of everyday life.

It may be difficult to adopt such a lifestyle, specially when peers around you are running fast to achieve milestones and million-dollar worth careers. But there are a few ways you can start adopting this lifestyle in small, measurable methods.

Slow fashion – Changing your fashion style will not change your ambitions and lifestyle otherwise, but will surely help in encouraging more eco-friendly, sustainable brands of fashion. Slow fashion brands not only make clothing in an environment-friendly way, but also ensure that they are long-lasting, thus reducing waste. Since they are made in limited quantities without following the fashion calendar, slow fashion brands provide better working hours and facilities to its craftsmen. And their styles are in no lesser in fashion appeal.

Eating healthy – You have probably heard this a zillion times now. Eat natural, healthy, organic. Reduce chemicals in your body.

Digital Detox – If I tell you to ditch your smartphone or tablet forever, you will not really listen to me. But you could think about doing that for 10 days maybe? Take time away from technology and immerse yourself into nature, fresh air, healthy exercise, and some blessed silence. Go for a spa holiday or trek up to the mountains – whatever you prefer – without worrying about those emails. Indulge in some digital detox and embrace that slow life for a while, till its time to get back to routine.

What is Teppanyaki? Understanding Japanese Cuisine.

Although there is much involved in the creation of delectable Japanese cuisine, Teppanyaki forms a large part of it, which many misunderstand to be same as hibachi or just grilled food. By: Soumya Jain Japan’s cuisine is as technically precise as it is creating a watch or jewelry. The fish has to be placed just the way and seaweed rolled with just enough pressure to be able to present a perfectly made sushi. Apart from the more popular sushi and sashimi, Teppanyaki also forms a part of Japanese cuisine. To put it in easy words, Teppanyaki uses an iron griddle to cook food. In Japan, ‘teppanyaki’ refers to dishes cooked using an iron plate, including steak, shrimp, vegetables, okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake), yakisoba (Japanese fried noodles), and monjayaki (also a kind of savory Japanese pancake). Modern teppanyaki grills are typically propane-heated flat surface grills and are widely used to cook food in front of guests at restaurants. Teppanyaki grills are commonly

The Rise of Indian Luxury Brands

India is no stranger to luxury. But its manifestations have only begun to rise recently. By: Soumya Jain I still remember 2009 and the huge number of trips I made to the newly opened DLF Emporio mall that year, because all international brands were opening their stores one by one at this New Delhi mecca of pure luxury. From Cartier to Dior, international brands had finally found a location apt for their sparkling stores in India. And suddenly, all these brands and the Indian luxury industry were in news. Not that Indian luxury brands didn’t exist before this. They did. After all, who else donned the celebrity and rich brides of India before this era. It’s just that Indian luxury brands were maybe only fixed on the pages of luxury magazines in India . After this time, they became mainstream. Today everybody knows J. J. Valaya, Suneet Varma, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Good Earth, Hidesign, Zoya, Forest Essentials, Mirari and the many Indian
